Hello,
I am a newbie trying to find a pointer. I have gone through the CE tutorial and watched several YouTube tutorials on finding multi-level pointers but I am having issues getting results The ammunition value is stored as a double type and have no problem finding it. However the address changes when I re-launch the game so I suspect it is the multi-level pointer scenario as described by the CE tutorial. I click on "find what accesses this address" -> change the value -> double click the result in the debugger and copy the "pointer should be this address" -> search for a 4 byte hex value. However it returns zero results every time I try this. I am not sure what I am doing wrong.

Since I can't get the tutorial method working I have also tried the pointer scan method up to level 5 (tried level 7 but quit after 45 minutes...). I get hundreds of thousands of results -> close the program -> find the new address -> "rescan for address" and this also returns zero results.

I would prefer to do it the CE tutorial way as it seems faster than pointer scan, at least a lvl 7 pointer scan. I am sure I am missing something obvious to experienced CE users and I am just looking for guidance or ideas as to what I am doing wrong.

Edit: Just finished a 2047 and lvl 7 scan to get a pretty big list. Closed the game and re scanned and had zero results again

You won't find a good pointer in certain situations. Try code injection instead. The "injection copies" section of this topic has useful information.
