Recently I've been trying to use CE with some games played through PCSX2. I haven't tried using CE with any other emulators but I've been finding that making cheats for games on it are extremely weird. Some games seem to be like this in that I can easily find character structures and the values stay constant even when completely uninstalling the games and emulator and reinstalling them, but others are super difficult for me to work with like this.
I just can't seem to make reliable cheats for games like in the second example via AOB scripts. I made an infinite health cheat that worked well until I restarted the game. I searched the AOB to see if it just wasn't unique enough and I found it listed twice. I looked at both in the disassembler and they were exactly the same no matter how far up or down I scrolled looking for differences.
So I was wondering if you guys could tell me a bit about how the emulated games work different than your standard games when making cheats as both cases seem to be very different than what I see when just working with my games on Steam.

Emulators are like wrappers, so you're dealing with the memory of the emulator, unlike a traditional PC game. Some emulators even have their own, built-in debugger, so CE access and functionality may be limited. If you can use injection, but you're having trouble finding a unique signature, you can look at incorporating LUA so that you can choose which injection location you want (e.g. instead of the first AOB result that CE finds, you can always choose the 2nd or 3rd etc., assuming that the order never changes - which it probably doesn't).

Thanks for the reply! I guess I should start learning more about LUA. I've probably put off looking into it for long enough anyways.
