How do I cheat?

So incase your not familiar with the game...
there is this item called gobblegum, and normally you can only use 3 per turn but i found the value that lets me use as many as i want.
when the level or game restarts/changes i have to find the value again
so i found the value, right clicked and found what was writing to the code. only 1 result so that was simple to replace with...
until i restart the game.
i open the advance menu and see what the OpCode?(is that what it's called?" accesses...but the problem is it accessess heaps of code. and the game slows to a crawl and crashes if i alt tab or do anything even as simple as rearranged the list order in the debug menu.
so my question is, is it impossible to keep a consistent table after restart or am i missing something?
note: some things in this game don't change and therefor don't require any finding after a restart or level restart...like with the money. but not so in this gobblegum situation.

You need to separate gobblegum from other addresses. As you saw, the instruction accesses lots of different addresses including gobblegum.

well method 2 and 3 seem to be beyond my abilities. reading them, i don't understand much of anything
method 1 though, i understood some of it. parts i didn't understand was
"The first thing to do is to make sure that
it's an opcode you know enough to edit or overwrite. "
went right over my head. but i tried to follow it anyway
anyway so i found the value like usual, then i checked to see what was accessing the address. 3 things popped up. then i went ahead and checked what addresses those 3 things accessed. did them one by one, and all 3 still have a huge list.
so i'm still at a dead end here. might be because i know nothing about "show in disassembler"
