how do you react to this screen ?

Nothing to uncheck so just click next, or actually click on both "click here"'s and then uncheck each one ?

But all the offers it installs should be easy to remove with add/remove software. Just reboot afterwards to make sure it's gone. If not, let me know exactly what is blocking you

Also malware byte classes parts of cheat engine itself as malware because of user upload reports. That should tell you how many people have been infected.

Interestingly, malware bytes doesn't give that as a reason for detecting cheat engine. Instead its some generic malware label they give. The reason AVs pick up cheat engine is because it allows you to modify other programs, has a kernelmode debugger.

I haven't checked ollydbg since i haven't used an antivirus for more than a decade now or maybe more but i am pretty sure that is also detected as malware. What's your reasoning there? are people uploading reports of olly as malware too? LOL

I think the real malware actually are antiviruses, they have all the characteristics of a good malware.

1. Hogs system resources - Check
2. Takes full control of PC - Check
3. Interferes with other programs - CHECK CHECK
4. Uploads users data to its servers - Check
5. Impossible to disable - Check
6. Modifies files on system - Check

I am not the only one believing this though

Antivirus industry is a multi billion dollar industry and is a business like any other so they want you think there is malware when there isn't.

What the interesting thing really is, the couple of times i was infected when i installed an AV to rid of it, they failed to even detect it after they were done updating huge files! I tried all the big brands, they only detected my trainers and cracks as malware but gave complete OK to the malware. Was really funny!.

Malwarebytes was okay but i have seen my university computers infected with all kinds of junk and malwarebytes has been no help. I think common sense is all the antivirus you need to combat malware.

I have had to troubleshoot many computers and I can attest to the fact that more and more AV software behaves exactly like malware.

I install CE every few updates, I have never gotten a virus/malware (from any source).

Are you sure you know what you are doing? It sounds like you got your virus/malware from many sources.

nowadays the reason i install antivirus is to provide me that "final confirmation" before running suspicious programs. sometimes when you're too tired, it just slips past your mind and you only realized you accidentally missed that .exe extension at the end of a file and blew through the windows administrative rights prompt after the fact. the administrative rights prompt is probably non-existent to everyone, just something to trigger the reflex of pressing enter.

i doubt any antivirus or antimalware can do anything against a targeted attack, they are more for blanket attacks. probably vmprotect some malicious code and all the uninformed will be happy enough that the executable passes all the online scans lol
