Cheat Engine

I'm sure that the files are installed correctly (ceserver and the lib file are inside /system/xbin) and of course all permissions are given.

When I try start the ceserver via the Terminal Emulator
It gives me an error:

get http://cheatengine.org/download/CheatEngine.apk
then tell it to launch ceserver (default)
if it still fails go to /data/data/org.cheatengine.cegui and run ceserver there and see how that reacts

I didn't knew that opening CE app starts ceserver too.

that Cheat Engine apk is great, currently, it's the only memory scanner that works on android lollipop!

why not release it to download section in ce website Wink

I am using a zenfone2 x86 arch.
I tried the x86 android binary from /temp/ceserverupdate.rar but I still get the PIE error.

Sorry for the late reply. I am still getting the PIE error. Tried putting it first in the data/0/user...etc folder and running the app, also tried running the server from terminal.
The Zenfone 2 is running Android 5.0+. Are there different PIE checks for different versions of Android ?

What more information do you need from me ?

You need to manually run the ceserver for your system under a command prompt that has root
Do not run the ones ending with _nopie

As you can see it is still not working. The file is: ceserver_x86 renamed as ceserver. size is 102120 as you can see from the ls command

don't rename it to ceserver, just keep it ceserver_x86 so you're sure you're executing the right one

e.g. in your screenshot you're showing the contents of /mnt/sdcard , but you're instead running the ceserver that is somewhere on your path since you didn't add ./ in front (probably from your previous attempt when you put it in the system path)

also, android tends to be annoying about executables in /mnt/sdcard
try copying it to some place else, like /data/data/ceserver or something

My bad. You were right, don;t know what I was thinking about trying to run a linux binary on a fat32 system. moved it to /data/data changed the permissions and run it. All OK
