Hey everyone!
So I've been trying to find a persistent pointer to a value stored in this game. Simple stuff, just using the pointer scanner as I have in the past.
Unfortunately, I've reached a bit of an issue. Pretty much the maximum I can scan without scans taking HOURS is :
Level - 7
Max Offset - 5000
Which yields about 60 million pointers, none of which were valid after a restart + rescan.
Clearly, larger scan will be required. No problem, I have a 3TB external USB3 drive so storage isn't too much of an issue.
I ran a slightly deeper scan, this time it was ridiculous. 14 BILLION pointers.
Which brings me to my main issue, its pretty much impossible to rescan this. after about 20% of the rescan, speed bottoms out and read-requests to my external drive slow way down. Its not a question of system strength, I have an internal SSD, 18GB DDR3 memory, intel i7 etc.
So, my question is, is there anyway to split up a pointer scan into several smaller chunks so that I can scan in smaller intervals and break up that 14 billion into 14 separate scans, for example.
Or maybe if anyone knows the root cause of this? It doesn't really make much sense, any buffers should be emptying as it goes so I'm not sure why speed consistently (tried several times) slows right down. I mean to the point it won't move a single bit in an hour.
Cheers everyone, hoping for good news!
