How do I cheat?

Ok so im using Cheat Engine 6.4 and im trying to add gold on the game March Of Empires. The gold you need to purchase with real money.

I have found the gold address and changed the value, thats all fine and dandy till i try and spend it and the game says error you dont have any.

Could someone point me towards somewhere i could read about whats going on?

The value is stored server side.
The server knows you don't money.
So the server returns an error to your client.

DON'T CHEAT ONLINE.
Especially when real money is involved.
