Anybody know where CE stores it's temporary scan data/files?
After a long scan (starting with float->Unknown Initial Value, then Unchanged Value), I noticed about 20+ gb of HDD space was eaten up.
And every time I do another scan, I lose more HDD space.
Seeing as how I'm only using about 50% of memory during the scan, I doubt it is Windows writing to the virtual memory space.
And after clearing/examining C:\Windows\Temp, CE doesn't seem to write anything there.
I've also looked in Common Files and AppData, and can't find anything of significant size... And rebooting does nothing.
So what's going on?
I should also note that this was NOT a pointer scan. It was just a standard memory scan.
And running CC Cleaner had no effect on the amount of disk space I'm losing during these scans.

Check the settings. The default should be the windows temp, but you can change it. I store it in a specific folder that I can easily delete.

Ok, so I found it. But it wasn't C:\Windows\Temp...
Instead, it saves to the environment variable %TEMP%.
For me, this evaluated to C:\Users\<myusername>\AppData\Local\Temp\Cheat Engine.
So I guess I didn't do enough digging in AppData, it would seem.
Thanks!

If you close cheat engine normally it will automatically delete those files

Yeah... although I can't be 100% sure, I think what happened was I noticed the scan taking too long without any sort of progress (likely due to low disk space), so I ended up forcibly terminating the process via Task Manager (both the target process, and CE itself). That could explain why I never got that disk space back.
Perhaps there's a way to have CE also check for obsolete scan data upon startup, instead of just upon exit? Just a thought.
Or, perhaps you could set a registry value which checks if CE was closed properly or not, and upon opening CE, if that flag is set to FALSE, ask the user if he/she wishes to recover disk space from the most recent scan?

ce will delete scanfiles older than 7 days (on successful closing)
you can have multiple CE's open at the same time, and some you could have open multiple days (for whatever reason)
