|
|
Before I get flamed for not knowing something, I would like to say I am a complete noob when it comes to anything like this, so please be kind and patient with my stupid question.
If I want to find the hex IDs for items of a particular game (Dark Souls 2), would I need to look for a specific file(s) that have each item with its corresponding ID listed? Or how would I got about this. I know there are hex IDs already for this game but I want to try and find a specific weapon that no one seems to have listed.

You find other item-related variables and then browse around the same memory region to see if you can find an ID.
Do a text search for the item name and find out what instructions access it. Trace the code.
Either way, you must first have the item.
Or try to break down the game code that contains the list of Item IDs, like in my script.
I'm assuming my script doesn't show this special item you want?
You sure it exists?

Quite positive it exists, its the reskinned blacksteel katana a.k.a the whitesteel katana, but seeing as I need to have it first in order to know the ID it's a bit of a dilemma since it was a limited time item.
So the only way of actually finding the ID of it would be having a person with the weapon record the ID?

Not impossible. You just need to know what you're looking for.
For example, the ID you want is 0055C120.
You just can't find it because it's not called a "Whitesteel" Katana.

Well then, I feel stupid now.
By the way, how did you find that item ID? (Like I said in the first post, I am extremely new to this)

I clicked the Display Item Identifiers in Log script in my table.
Did a search for Blacksteel Katana and it just so happens there are two of them.

Copy and paste that huge list of items into Note Pad so you can search through it.
