I never used this functionality. Could someone explain what can be achieved with LUA Scripting?

You have access to the gui, windows, and internal functions of CE
as to what can be achieved by it is up to you.

Check out the autorun folder and the download page for extensions that are all written in lua. (mono dissect, java dissect, and even a java bytecode editor)

and check this most recent topic http://forum.cheatengine.org/viewtopic.php?t=579036 where a simple lua script adds a new feature to ce that was missing (copy to clipboard as text)
