Hi Guys, New here and made an account for this issue because I've spent ridiculous amounts of time trying to figure it out.
I'm playing a wine version of NBA2k13 on my mac via Wine. Every time I try using CE it only recognizes wine or wineskin in my processes list, there's like 3 Wineskins and like 4 wines. So I have no idea which to choose. I've tried CE for mac, and also using wine to launch CE and it doesn't make a diff on either. If anyone can help it would be much much much appreciated.

hey @rockforlight,
first, i'm not familiar with mac.
just try by step by step to select the right process. select one from the list and search some values...
if you find nothing, then select another one. one process of the list is the right one.
regards

CheatEngine works very well in Wine on Linux so it should work well on Mac.
My guess is that wineskin creates a unique wine prefix for every single program you install using it. If this is true then CheatEngine will NOT find any other processes other than itself.
I would recommend you to compile or get a wine installation without wineskin and set up your prefixes manually, or find a way to install in the same prefix.
You will have to use the terminal with a specific wineprefix and then install your game + cheatengine in there.
Something like this in your terminal (you will have to change the paths yourself, I do not use a Mac):
Code: | export WINEPREFIX=/path/to/wineprefix
wine /path/to/game_installer.exe
wine /path/to/cheatengine_installer.exe |
When you have installed the game + cheatengine in the same prefix through Wine then you can create shell script to launch them both:
Code: | export WINEPREFIX=/path/to/wineprefix
export WINEDEBUG=-all
wine "/path/to/wineprefix/drive_c/Program Files/MYGAME/game.exe" &
wine "/path/to/wineprefix/drive_c/Program Files/Cheat Engine 6.4/ce6.4-i386.exe" & |
There might be an easier way to do this with Wineskin, but I do not use a Mac so I can not say. You could probably edit the wrapper script in Wineskin or something similar to make both the game and CheatEngine use the same prefix.
