Has anyone ever tried combining the CE Server and CE in wine to use it "natively" in a linux environment?
I'm switching a computer over to Linux for various reasons, and it runs a few games better then my other rig.
Has anyone tried this, if so, did it work? If not, could someone test this and get back to me with how it goes? |

i have had some reports that ce and wine work well, so itvs like ce running in wine connected to ceserver will work as well.
just try it

I haven't got linux installed just yet, if no one else has the time to before I get done I will and report on how easy or difficult this is...assuming it works at all.
I know wine is supposed to avoid contact with the linux system as much as possible so I'm not sure if the networks will cross over or not, though I see no reason why they shouldn't |

assuming you compile the ceserver version from the svn it should work decently. (big chance it'll crash when you get a processlist if you get the binary from the website)
But keep in mind that not all features will work flawlessly, and that tables for windows versions will not work on your games
