I hope it's okay to report this here, if not please yell at me.

Since 6.4 Cheat Engine is randomly crashing for me.

weird. 6.3 is more likely to randomly crash in 64-bit (it just dies when anything injects a dll into it)

The error shown is also not one of CE's error handlers so there's really not much I can do with this right now.

Is your system something weird? Do you have anything installed that could interfere ?

Hmm...

Well nothing out of the ordinary, I think.
My system runs pretty fine.

Maybe the following won't be found on everyone's system:
Tunngle
Visual Studio 2012
VMware Workstation
VirtualBox

But I wouldn't know how they should interfere.
Other than that there's nothing special.
It couldn't be related to my system booting from VHD, could it?

The Example from above post is with Final Fantasy XIII btw.

except tunngle i have the same things installed

Not sure what you mean with booting off vhd but i doubt it.
Do you have a non english windows version?
Do scans function without an issue?

No, I have an English Windows installation, although I'm not speaking English natively.

Scans do work, but I'm not quite sure. I may remember a game where even the scans did not work all the time.
Mostly it seems when debugging or using tools from Memory Viewer.

*To boot via VHD you create a virtual hard disk before setup and install your OS (Windows 7 in my case) on that VHD. Only Ultimate Version seems to support it.

hmm, rightclick the CE logo (or help->about) to bring up the about window

At the bottom, does it say your system does not support dbvm, your system support dbvm or your system is running dbvm version xxxxxx

if it says your system is running dbvm then that's the issue (system running in a virtual machine and CE mistakenly thinks it's dbvm)

Are themes enable or disabled ?

The dialog says "Your system supports DBVM".
Also DBVM (at least with 6.3) does run flawlessly.

My system does not run in a VM. It's native.

Aero Theme is enabled, if that's what you're referring to.

Edit: Errors attached. Also, CE 6.4 keeps running in the background, after closing the window.

Right now there is nothing I can do about this. You seem to be the only one with this issue.

Try using the 32-bit ce client or keep with 6.3. Perhaps it's the compiler version I used for 6.4 but that's the main difference

So the errors I posted above don't shed any light?

Okay, thank you for your time (and CE of course).

Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but I wanted to let you know, that since version 6.5 there are no more crashes for me.

So thanks for all your hard work. Smile

It doesn't crash because Free Pascal team fixed SEH issue:

Details of the bug: on Windows 64, exceptions in (third party) DLLs may be raised using SEH. These exceptions should be handled within the DLL itself.

Since FPC 2.7.1 we have no issues with 64bit CE.
