Cheat Engine

I know that this is alot to ask, but thats how I will learn it.
Ive tried numerous times to find a pointer in Dark Souls II, but I just cant do it its making me nuts.
If I can follow a step-by-step guide then its easier for me cause I will know how it works.

Please! I am going crazy with this, really want to learn and be good with finding pointers but on my end something always goes wrong.

Ive tried a pointer scan to find souls in Dark Souls II but the second scan returns 0 pointers.

Ive tried *find out what writes...* on the address of the souls but all I get is an address to some pointer that doesnt point to the right direction (something like that 0_0).

All that ASM code is driving me nuts, i understand mov, cmp, jmp etc but when i see stuff like EAX,[EAX+08] then I get lost.
