it could be awesome if you could add an update button in the program so you don't need to remove the old version and the download and install the newest version

You don't NEED to remove the old version, you can also just leave it in the same folder and just install the new ce in a different folder so you can use them both
as for a update notification, not sure. I prefer to let the notification happen when someone downloads a cheat table for a new ce version (ce will pop up a message that there is a new version out then)
People are already on their toes with AV's scaring the shit out of them, and letting ce calling back to the ce website and checking if there is a new version would even more let them shit their pants

Back in the CE 5.x series, one had to uninstall and clean the system (unload kernel module, reset configuration) before installing the new one - otherwise there may have been problems.
Did that change in 6.x?

Kinda, Cheat Engine 6.1 installs to program files(x86)\Cheat engine 6.1
so it doesn't overwrite old files and thus no problem with overwiritng files in use or on the auto restore list of windows
You will still need to reboot if you used the kernel with an unloadable option, but you also had to do that with a uninstall

u should consider adding an automatic update checker and downloader on the cheatengine.exe file. that way its easier and more noticible to check for an update. u could even add a box that displays a check if it finds an update 4 u. bud if u do plz do not make it flashy and annoying, cuz thats one of the manythings i like about cheat engine. its short sweet and to the point.
PS darkbyte, if u email me, PLZPLZ use the one ive always used cuz gmail is never checked cuz its one for online purposes only
(i just went back and red this thred so dont troll me for being oblivious to the text above)

I for one, would not want automatic updates and installers.
This is the first thing I disable on WinDOS, too.
As for a notifier, an RSS feed would do...

DB is right that it would cause lots of whining from those who think CE may be a virus. The update doesn't worth the risk. Besides if someone is a regular CE user, checking the forum once in a while or just look at the main page is not so hard. CE doesn't have updates in every 10 minutes like games.
