I'm really new to cheat engine but i've heard that sometimes you have to multiply the value you're looking for by 8 and then search it on cheat engine. However, when i tried to practice using cheat engine on minesweeper, multiplying the number by 8 returned 0 values, but when i used the original number (not multiplying it by Cool, i found the addresses i wanted.

What i want to know is how do you know which games need you to multiply the number by 8.

It's a quick technique for use on flash games. v7/8 and higher. I don't hack flash crap though, so can't be more specific. It doesn't apply elsewhere in 99.999% of cases.

Multiplying by 8 is only a rule for Flash games.

Modern flash-players store their values in such a way that you'll have to scan using the *8 rule.
This rule does not count for games that aren't flash, or are played on Adobe Flashplayer v7 or less.

i'm guessing the *8 is because the value is bit shifted 3 times to the left when stored for some reason unknown to me

Perhaps they added a few checkbits. For easy handling or something alike.

I should read up on it.
