One win32.Parite that I neglected to remove.

Bound itself to all my exe's. Gradually, other malware+spyware+trojans somehow got into my computer. First, my desktop permanently died. I had to use Task Manager > File > New Task... to run a program. Gradually, it got worse and worse, to the point that my computer wouldn't even start up.

A Vundo variant, holy shit that thing was annoying as fuck.
I somehow managed to get rid of it without formatting, can't remember how.

I usually don't get malware/viruses. Well very rarely, I scan my stuff before I execute them and use an AV/Firewall.

I forgot the entire name but it was called Torjan Zlob.B and FUCK was it ever fucking annoying to get it off ( I hard knew anything about computers last 2 years but now i pretty much know about computers). It came from a .zip file which my friend told me to download ( Asshole bragging about " Military/Government security shit, i had Norton and as we all know that Norton was pain in the ass since it downgraded performance. So, me as the un-experinced user of a computer i downloaded it..Then shit happened..I dont even want to describe it.
Did i mention also that i though deleting icons from your desktop deleted the program and i didnt know sometime called " Add,Remove Programs"

Once I got a sasser... Though I was able to remove it, it didn't go without a fight and did some damage.

Back in the days of Kazaa, I had the Bullguard Fake AV spyware, which was written about as well as a real AV. It had drivers, multiple keepalive processes, services, and pile of registry bootup entries. It hooked plugins into IE, altered MS Office executables, infected removable drives, and then spent its time spamming you with popups to buy Bullguard (a complete scam). It was probably one of the most complicated bits of malware around at the time, close to being the first real rootkit in the wild.

I had to put my drive in another machine and manually load my registry hives to kill it off, took me weeks to remove in the end. I had to re-install IE and Office, then do a system repair to bring back all the damaged files. Pain in the arse.
